Fantasy Football

I had my first fantasy draft of the season last night. This was a live draft on Yahoo. These drafts amaze me because most the time only 4 or 5 people actually participate which allows us to have a better draft. If you are going to do something like this then at least commit to 1 hour on a Saturday night.

I went running back heavy with anticipation that I can trade someone or just hoard the talent. I wait and see.

Birthday Parties

When you have children with Birthday's within 2 weeks of each other you have parties together if you have one. Today we celebrated 2 parties in my house. We did this by inviting family to our home for Lunch and presents. Then we invited friends to go to a local bowling alley for a couple of hours. This was quite an adventure that ended up with only one injury. One boy smashed his fingers between two balls at the return. He was okay by the end of the day however.

My children are learning how blessed they are. In an earlier post I said we have lot's of toys. Well we just added to the mess today. They each received about 15 more toys. Many with small parts perfect with a little one around.

Sub contracting

For the first time in my life I have become a subcontractor. I have a friend who needs help with his website. Basically I am providing names, pictures and descriptions of his merchandise that he sells. It is not that big of a deal but will provide a little bit of money. Enough to help with some extras that we need around the house.

Note to Self.

The number one rule of creating a budget is actually using it.

This job was something that anyone could do but my friend is trying to spend more time on marketing his multiple websites.

Video Games and Kids

It took me as a father about 7 years to decide to get video games for my children ( and myself). In fact it took my brother in law giving us a gift certificate large enough to buy it. We didn't want to have my kids get addicted or loose the ability to be real. Well after having a rule of only can play when daddy played, we changed it to just once a week. Every friday we can have game day. I didn't want to always play or was working so they did not get the time to play before. This has helped them feed there need to do this and gives them a chance to learn

Toys and Children

Did you ever have that moment when you relize that your children have more then you did. In the last month I have cleaned up my basement and storage room basically twice and have touched every toy my kids own. I have 5 children 9,7,5,2 1/2 and 3 weeks. I believe they have at least 1 toy for every day since they have been born.

Note to Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.
Kids mostly need clothes, school supplies, and college tuition someday (spend money on savings bonds we can use later when they are 18.

Well this week we have had an exodus of toys to reduce our inventory.

BTK and his Victims

Copied from LiveJournal

The following is Charlie Otero's statement about Dennis Rader and the murders of his family members. This is the statement made at the sentencing hearing. I am so impressed.

"My name is Charlie Otero.

I am not here to recant the personal loss I have felt for over 30 years, but to speak for all the members of my family, living and dead. Not only my siblings and I, but the entire families of the Oteros and the Burgoses suffered from the actions of one Dennis Rader.

I would like at this time to state that the criminal actions of Dennis Rader caused irreparable damage to the very fabric of my blood family: sons, daughters, uncles and cousins, a father and mothers, aunts and grandmothers. All lost the precious moments my family's very existence would have brought them during their lifetimes. Their lost lives are missed yet to this day.

Dennis Rader did not ruin my life though. He caused me to challenge my faith, change my future forever, and separated me from the rest of my loved ones for over 30 years. Yet I have never allowed his actions to send me to the dark side. A son's love for his mother would not allow Dennis Rader to tarnish her memory. The lessons I learned from my father and mother transcend the evil doings of Dennis Rader.

No action or sentence bestowed upon Dennis Rader will begin to compare with the reckoning he will endure when his time for judgment comes before the Lord. I truly believe the Lord will pass judgment and sentence as is befitting Dennis Rader's actions and beliefs. No amount of posturing or deception will save him from the eternity he has created for himself with his time here on earth.

I only hope that the sentence passed onto him by the judicial system of the State of Kansas denies him the opportunity to spend his remaining days with anyone or anything besides himself, for that is more than he deserves.

Despite Dennis Rader's efforts to destroy my family, we survive, stronger and closer now more than ever. Our love for each other was forged with pain and loss. Yes, it took years of straying down different paths, but in the end we all, Danny, Carmen and I have found our ways back to each other with the unity and love to be proud of.

As far as I'm concerned, when it is all done, Dennis Rader has failed in his effort to kill the Oteros.

Thank you."

Changes

My family is full of changes in the last few weeks. We welcomed home a new baby on the 27th and I just found out my job is switching on Wednesday. I am going from suburbia to the inner city in the retail business. I have to admit I am not happy about this switch but can't refuse if I want to continue to move up.
